SanDisk Extreme Ducati Edition cards

SanDisk has launched a new range in their Extreme series of fast SD and CF memory cards in collaboration with Ducati Corse.

Acoording to Sandisk
“With the SanDisk Extreme Ducati Edition cards, we have reached a new threshold of speed – 45 megabytes per second for the CompactFlash cards and 20MB/sec1 for the SD Plus card,” said Tanya Chuang, director of worldwide retail product marketing for the high performance imaging market at SanDisk. “These speeds allow for fast transfers of images from the cards, and are especially useful for professional photographers in their work-flow environments.”

Ps3 sales vs WII sales vs Xbox 360 sales

Sony PS3 Japan sales hit 1 million, lags Wii . Ps3 sold 1 million units in 8 months more than 4 times as long as WII. Xbox 360 sold less than 0.5 million units. This is the latest sales report as of July 18,2007. These are Japanese sales figures.

Sony should seriously consider slashing prices to make it more competitive. If not they’ll keep losing market share. What do you think?

Naver search challenges Google search. It really does!

Have you guys heard of Naver? It’s a south Korean search engine that’s challenging google’s philosophy. Unlike Google, Naver search would get you in touch with other humans who are searching and they would be able to answer your question.

Of course the credibility is a good question. But the concept is good. Isn’t it cool that you can actually question the result of your search?

Google cuts Cookie Lifespan for Privacy

Google in it’s blog has announced that it will reduce the lifespan of the cookies installed on the computer of google users.

The blog stated, “In the coming months, Google will start issuing our users cookies that will be set to auto-expire after 2 years, while auto-renewing the cookies of active users during this time period. In other words, users who do not return to Google will have their cookies auto-expire after 2 years. Regular Google users will have their cookies auto-renew, so that their preferences are not lost. And, as always, all users will still be able to control their cookies at any time via their browsers.”

It went on to add “After listening to feedback from our users and from privacy advocates, we’ve concluded that it would be a good thing for privacy to significantly shorten the lifetime of our cookies – as long as we could find a way to do so without artificially forcing users to re-enter their basic preferences at arbitrary points in time. And this is why we’re announcing a new cookie policy.”

Apple Iphone Flood Wireless LAN

Network World reported an interesting article about Iphones flooding the wireless LAN in Duke University. I am not sure whether this is due to bad configuration of the servers / hardware or whether it is really because of Iphones. Here is the link to the article

Did you know that a 75 year old swedish woman has the fastest internet residential link in the world? She has a 40 GBPS fiber optic connection. I am not sure what this grandma is doing on a information super highway.

Youtube and Sony’s new camcorder

Sony has launched a new camcorder NSC-GC1 that would make it easier to post your home videos directly from the camcorder to youtube and other popular video sharing sites.

Another cool feature is that it can shoot images at 5 Megapixels. Not sure about retail price. But it is rumored to be around $200.I would expect it to be more when it really hits the market.

Iphone – 68 bugs and counting

React OS – Will this replace Windows OS?

React OS is an open source operating system whose architecture is pretty much like windows. All things that work on Windows will supposedly work on React OS without any upgrades.

According to the company website

“ReactOS® is an advanced free open source operating system providing a ground-up implementation of a Microsoft Windows® XP compatible operating system. ReactOS aims to achieve complete binary compatibility with both applications and device drivers meant for NT and XP operating systems, by using a similar architecture and providing a complete and equivalent public interface.”

This will be cool if it’ll be successful.

Anti-Microsoft IE website

There is this website that is promoted by many websites called http://browsehappy.com/ which is basically potraying as if IE is very unsafe and suggests people to download other available browsers like Mozilla,safari etc.

There are manifestos from many high profile people vouching for it. Just want to share this with others.
